Why Barsana fights back with sticks every spring
Legend says a young Krishna walked into Barsana and coloured Radha and her friends without warning. Teased past their patience, the women picked up bamboo lathis and chased him home to Nandgaon. Every year since, the men of Nandgaon walk back to Barsana to repeat the “offence” — and the women meet them with gulal, folk songs, and sticks, while the men shield themselves and take it with a grin.
